Troy A. DeGolyer

Born in Landstuhl, Germany and raised in Maine, Chief Warrant Officer Five Troy A. DeGolyer attended Hawthorne College, Antrim, N.H. where he received an Associates of Science in Business Administration in 1985 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management in 1986.

In 1987, CW5 DeGolyer enlisted in the United States Army, and attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC.  Upon completion, he attended flight training at Fort Rucker, AL where he received his Army aviator designation in September 1988 and his aircraft qualification in the AH-64A Apache in December 1988.

CW5 DeGolyer’s initial assignment was with 1st Battalion (Attack), 82ndAviation Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he flew as an Apache Co-Pilot Gunner (CPG) and Kiowa Aerial Scout Pilot in two combat tours in support of Operations Just Cause, Panama and Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Persian Gulf.  Follow on assignments include: 2-227th Aviation Regiment, Hanau, Germany, where he deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina as part of NATO’s initial Implementation Force (IFOR) in support of Operation Joint Endeavor; 1-337th Aviation Regiment, Fort Knox, KY; 1-14thAviation Regiment, Fort Rucker, AL; 1-6 Cavalry Regiment, Camp Eagle, Korea; 1-3 Aviation Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, GA; where he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III; 1-2 Aviation Regiment, Camp Eagle, Korea; 21st Cavalry Brigade (Air Combat), Fort Hood, TX; U.S. Army Central Command (USARCENT), 3rdU.S. Army, Operational Command Post (Forward), Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in support of Operations Enduring Freedom (OEF), New Dawn and Spartan Shield; 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, Fort Hood, TX as the Command Chief Warrant Officer (CCWO) and deploying again in support of both Operations Spartan Shield and Enduring Freedom; U.S. Army Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, KY as the Chief, Aviation Warrant Officer Assignments; and the Office of the Program Manager – Saudi Arabian National Guard (OPM-SANG), Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Currently, CW5 DeGolyer is assigned to the U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC), Fort Knox, KY where he serves as the USAREC CCWO. 

CW5 DeGolyer’s military education includes the Warrant Officer Basic Course, Warrant Officer Advance Course, Warrant Officer Intermediate Level Education and the Warrant Officer Senior Staff Education. His military aircraft qualifications include the TH-55, UH-1H, OH-58A/C and the AH-64A/D/E.  He has over 3500 hours total flight time, including over 800 hours in combat and over 900 hours with night vision devices.

CW5 DeGolyer has over 33 years of active duty Army service.  His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (1-OLC), Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (6-OLC), Air Medal (Numeral 5), Army Commendation Medal (3-OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2-OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (1-Service Star), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (1-Service Star and Arrowhead), Southwest Asia Service Medal (2-Service Stars), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1-Service Star), Iraq Campaign Medal (2-Service Stars), Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 5), NATO Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Meritorious Unit Citation (1-OLC), Superior Unit Award (1-OLC), Combat Action Badge, Master Aviator Badge, Parachutist Badge and the Order of Saint Michael (Silver Award).
